Competition Success!

There a 3 main photographic organisations in the UK and I've been members of them all at one time or another. I joined the SWPP a while ago as they run excellent seminars with leading photographers from the US and Australia amongst others.

I entered some images in the SWPP print competition and was really pleased to see two winners were amongst them! This first pic was entered in the 'Monochrome' category and was of Nathan and his new daughter Isla who I photographed a few months ago.I really liked the contrast between the faces of father and daughter.


I don't really shoot many images of pets but I liked this picture of our dog Riley relaxing in the surf on a Herne Bay beach. We had taken the kids to the seaside for the day and in typical British fashion, the rain came in horizontally for most of the day accompanied by gale force winds. During a short break in the weather I shot this image. It's got a nice spacious feel, I used a semi-fisheye lens, and the colours are great too. I entered it in the 'Pets' section of the competition and it scored over 80%!
